Photolanguage

(Nigel Green & Robin Wilson)

Photolanguage, an art practice collaboration between Nigel Green and Robin Wilson, was established in 1998. Its aim is to develop experimental methods for the documentation of architecture and landscape, and to engage with institutional contexts through specifically sited curatorial and publication projects.

Photolanguage employs the photographic image, experimental texts, archives and found artefacts through a peripatetic gathering of evidence. Our engagement with site involves the observation and reconfiguration of centre and marginal positions, bringing attention to suppressed or forgotten narratives of place, and seeks to construct new meaning from the overlooked. As a form of utopic practice our work collects and presents ‘evidence’ of alternative modern histories lying latent within the modernity of the everyday.
